As data is read from the hard disk, DRIVECRYPT automatically decrypts the data before it is loaded into memory. When data is written back to the hard disk, it is automatically re-encrypted. The encryption/ decryption process is completely transparent to the user or any application program -the data is caught on the fly as it transfers back and forth between the hard disk and memory. Consequently, users dont need to remember to decrypt or re-encrypt their data, or change the normal operation of the PC. In addition, only individual files are decrypted at any one time, not the whole hard disk.

Codrina Romania  | Posted on April 11th, 2008 | I have installed a few month ago DriveCrypt 4.61, latest version, also compatible with Vista 32 and 64 bit and I must say this is an excellent software, easy to install and use, even for not so high qualified users. The software is giving you the possibility of using up to 4 passwords for each encrypted volume (container). There are some other feature to improve the security such as: "The Red Low Level Message Screen" (you can avoid the possibility of keyboard messages, between Win and the application, being copied by another program or process or sniffer), "The Lockout Console" function which allows you to block the console access to
your computer, whenever you need to leave it alone for a while and you can use different hardware devices to improve the security, in addition to the pass phrase used.
DriveCrypt`s Traveller Mode is a very useful feature, you can work with an encrypted volume on a host PC without having to install the software on it. So all in all this is what makes this product a valuable one to have and deploy. |
